NGCs have been reported to exhibit various biological effects. This study is aimed to evaluate the effects of NGCs on skin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediplus-pharma.co.jp\/_wordpress\/en\/homeostasis-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">homeostasis<\/a> by investigating antioxidant activity and barrier functions. NGC enhanced expression of HO-1, NQO1 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediplus-pharma.co.jp\/_wordpress\/en\/messengerrna-messenger-ribonucleic-acid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mRNA<\/a> and GSH protein in a concentration-dependent manner from 20 ppm after 24 h of stimulation. These results imply that the oxidative property of NGCs activates <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediplus-pharma.co.jp\/_wordpress\/en\/nf-e2-related-factor-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nrf2 (NF-E2-related factor 2)<\/a> transcription factor, which is a biological defense sensor, and induces the expression of antioxidant factors. NGCs have been reported to exhibit various biological effects. In addition to their deodorizing, disinfecting and antiviral effects, NGCs were found to increase <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediplus-pharma.co.jp\/_wordpress\/en\/type-i-collagen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">type I collagen<\/a> production and inhibit pro-inflammatory <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediplus-pharma.co.jp\/_wordpress\/en\/cytokine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cytokine<\/a> secretion.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Purpose<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This study is aimed to evaluate the effects of NGCs on skin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediplus-pharma.co.jp\/_wordpress\/en\/homeostasis-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">homeostasis<\/a> by investigating antioxidant activity and barrier functions.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Method<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In this study, in order to clarify the effects of NGCs on normal human skin, we quantified the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediplus-pharma.co.jp\/_wordpress\/en\/messengerrna-messenger-ribonucleic-acid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mRNA<\/a> gene expression of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediplus-pharma.co.jp\/_wordpress\/en\/hem-oxygenase-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1)<\/a> and NAD(P)H:quinone reductase1 (NQO1) as antioxidant factors by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediplus-pharma.co.jp\/_wordpress\/en\/pr-pcr-method\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PR-PCR<\/a> and the protein content of intracellular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediplus-pharma.co.jp\/_wordpress\/en\/glutathione%ef%bc%88gsh%ef%bc%89\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">glutathione (GSH) <\/a>using a culture system of normal human epidermal keratinocyte. Moreover, gene expression of factors related to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediplus-pharma.co.jp\/_wordpress\/en\/skin-barrier-functions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">skin barrier functions<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediplus-pharma.co.jp\/_wordpress\/en\/involucrin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">involucrin (INV)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediplus-pharma.co.jp\/_wordpress\/en\/filaggrin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filaggrin (FLG)<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediplus-pharma.co.jp\/_wordpress\/en\/serine-palmitoyltransferasespt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">serine palmitoyl transferase (SPT)<\/a>) was examined to clarify the effects of NGCs on epidermal cell differentiation.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Results<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>NGC enhanced expression of HO-1, NQO1 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediplus-pharma.co.jp\/_wordpress\/en\/messengerrna-messenger-ribonucleic-acid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mRNA<\/a> and GSH protein in a concentration-dependent manner from 20 ppm after 24 h of stimulation.
