Ozone gel does not generate resistant bacteria, and a broad antibacterial spectrum is confirmed, such as gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative bacteria, yeast, and viruses. Study

Research jointly conducted by Osaka Dental University and School of Dentistry of Showa University, and others

Using ozone gel diluted to 0.5ppm, the expression levels of interleukin IL-6 and IL-8 in the presence of porphyromonas gingivalis LPS (endotoxin) were measured by in-vitro.

Result

This research found that ozone gel inhibited the expression of interleukin-6 and interleukin-8, kind of inflammatory cytokines, and had anti-inflammatory effects.

Study

A study on wound healing using ozone ointment which was produced by adding macrogol ointment to ozone gel at the prosthodontics classroom of School of Dentistry of Showa University

Ozone ointment was applied twice a day to a wound site with a diameter of 5.0mm and a depth of about 1.0mm, and results were measured.

Result

This study revealed that the reduction rate in case of application of ozone ointment was superior to the case of macrogol ointment and that the collagen fiber was densely arranged in findings of Azan staining.

In addition to the effects of promoting collagen production and accelerating wound healing, the effects of promoting immunostimulation and hyaluronic acid formation as well as fibroblast activation effects were confirmed.
