Nucleic acid sequence
A nucleic acid sequence is a sequence of bases contained in macromolecular compounds, mainly nucleic acids. In the field of genetics, nucleic acid sequences are responsible for the diversity of genetic information, DNA and RNA contain four types of bases, and the order of these bases determines the biological individuality of an organism. Therefore, since the total number of base pairs in a human DNA sequence is 3 billion, there are theoretically 4 to 3 billionth different base sequences, which account for the diversity of human genetic information.
